iDEAlab extension of project eligibility period

University of Novi Sad, as a Grant Holder of the Tempus project project “Fostering students’ entrepreneurship and open innovation in university-industry collaboration (iDEALab)” 544373-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-RS-TeMPUS-JPHES (eligibility period December 1, 2013 – November 30, 2016) and on behalf of all consortium members has sent a request for the extension of project eligibility period for additional 6 months, until May 30, 2017, in order to successfully and in high quality accomplish all project activities planned in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

According to the project proposal, the main outcome of the iDEAlab project is to develop a regional network of six labs, as a physical and virtual environment for generating and developing innovative students’ ideas in 3 Western Balkan countries (SRB, MNE, BiH). It was expected that establishment of iDEAlab network is achieved through three development work packages (WP.1, WP.2, and WP.3) and sustained through WP4 - WP7. WP1 resulted in creating a model for iDEAlab, based on the analysis of successful and comparative examples from the EU and detailed analyses of local entrepreneurial and industrial needs for trainings and services in WBC. Activities in WP2 enabled the establishment of iDEAlabs in the region. Here the project encountered a slight delay (approximately 6 months for the majority of institutions). Finally, WP3 and WP5 (iDEAlab operation and exploitation) needed to hold back with some activities to be realized until the iDEAlabs were launched in 2016 and the iDEAlabs operational, causing the consortium to ask for an extension of the project in order to safeguard the interests of the project.

iDEAlab consortium members agreed that extension of eligibility period for 6 months would be necessary and valuable for overcoming the obstacles encountered beyond our control during the project that have caused slight delays in implementation of some aforementioned project activities

EACEA has approved the extension for additional 6 months, until May 30, 2017.

A letter of approval can be found here.
